Local church to build school in Haiti in memory of Sandy Hook

MAUMEE, Ohio -

A local church organization is building a new school building for children in Haiti. That new building will also be dedicated to the lives lost at the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

The name of each person killed will be inside the school. The church's pastor, Bill Sherman, says he wants those names to live on forever. Plans to build a school in Haiti had been in the works for some time. However, after the recent tragedy in Newtown, pastor bill says the time to act was now.

"The whole nation was broken, our church was broken I can't even imagine what they were going through, but it drove us to get this done even quicker and dedicate this so they could live on in memory of everything that happen", says Pastor Bill Sherman, Crosswood Church

Members from the Crosswood Church are returning to Haiti later this month to where they'll make final decisions on the property they plan to purchase. Pastor Bill says he hopes to have the school up and running by spring.

Donations can be made at Crosswood Church, Pastor Bill Sherman, 126 Chesterfield Lane, Maumee,Ohio 43537
