Pearce Shuts Down Kalamazoo in a 2-0 Win

KALAMAZOO - Jordan Pearce made 35 saves for his second shutout of the season to lead Toledo to a 2-0 win. Toledo has an overall record of 19-13-0-1 and is 10-7-0-1 on the road this season.

Terry Broadhurst would give Toledo a 1-0 lead at 8:52 of the first period. Broadhurst took a pass from Adam Hobson, cut in front and beat goaltender Joel Martin blocker side for his 12th goal of the season. It is the third straight game with a goal for Broadhurst.

"We need to use our speed against the Wings to be successful," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "This can be such a tough place to play if you let them get going. We did a good job of bottling them up tonight."

Toledo didn't waste any time scoring in the second as Randy Rowe deflected Max Nicastro's shot through the legs of Joel Martin just 18 seconds into the second period. It was the 9th goal of the season and the 247th of Rowe's career.

Jordan Pearce was the story in the third period as he turned aside all 14 Kalamazoo shots in third period, including a couple of great chances.
