Wauseon woman sentenced for felony insurance fraud

Posted: Updated:

A Wauseon woman was sentenced to ten months in prison for felony insurance fraud.

Kelli Reyes pleaded guilty to the charges.  The Ohio Department of Insurance started its investigation against Reyes in November of 2011 when State Farm reported a suspicious claim from Reyes about a break-in at her home.  The department found Reyes submitted two fake receipts and falsely claimed power tools and bicycles were stolen.

Reyes was sentenced to ten months in prison and ordered to pay the prosecution costs and $1,148.15 in restitution to State Farm.

If you suspect insurance fraud or insurance agent misconduct, call the Ohio Department of Insurance's fraud hotline at 1-800-686-1527.
