Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: After winning four straight games, Lourdes returns home to the friendly confines of Tam-o-Shanter on Wednesday evening to host Northwestern Ohio in a game televised live on BCSN.  The Gray Wolves will then take to the road on Saturday to close out the first half of conference play facing Cornerstone up in Grand Rapids, Mich.

On the Air: Wednesday's contest against Northwestern Ohio will be broadcast live locally on BCSN, which is part of Buckeye Cablesystem.  The game is also scheduled to re-air on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 4 a.m., noon, and 8 p.m.

Head Coach Andre Smith: In his third season both on the Lourdes bench and overall as a men's collegiate head coach, Andre Smith has a 40-39 (.506) record.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is a perfect 4-0 all-time against Northwestern Ohio in a series that dates back to a 57-52 Gray Wolf win in Lima, Ohio on Dec. 30, 2010.  The Gray Wolves swept the season series in 2011-2012, posting a 78-71 triumph at Tam-o-Shanter on Jan. 18 before downing the Racers 69-51 exactly one month later in Lima.  Lourdes is 1-2 all-time against Cornerstone, with all three meetings coming last season.  The Golden Eagles won both regular season contests against the Gray Wolves, posting a 77-66 triumph in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Dec. 10, 2011 and a 66-51 victory at Tam-o-Shanter on Feb. 1, 2012.    Lourdes won the final meeting of the year though, 67-58 at Cornerstone in the quarterfinals of the WHAC tournament.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened 2013 with a pair of victories to run its winning streak to four straight games.  The Gray Wolves rallied from a halftime deficit at Siena Heights to defeat the Saints 55-46 on Wednesday evening on the road.  Alex Davis led Lourdes with 12 points and seven rebounds in the win.  Saturday the Gray Wolves posted a 61-39 triumph at Marygrove behind 15 points and nine rebounds by Corey Harvey.

Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have dropped two of their last three games following a 68-64 setback at home against Indiana Tech on Saturday.  Derrick Tate leads UNOH averaging 16.2 points per game while Blake Bush and Johnny Elliott add 12.6 points each.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have lost two straight following a 59-56 loss to Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday and head to Indiana Tech Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Wes Hudson leads five players averaging in double figures with 16.9 points per game for Cornerstone.

Nation's Top Defensive Team: Lourdes defense ranks tops among all NAIA Division II schools allowing just 51.3 points per game this season.  The Gray Wolves have held six consecutive opponents under 60 points, and have only allowed three opponents all season to score 60 against them in a contest.

Contesting Shots: Lourdes also ranks first in NAIA Division II in opponents' field goal percentage.  The Gray Wolves are limiting the opposition to just 35.9% shooting from the floor this season.  Only five teams have shot better than 40% in a game against Lourdes this year.

Protecting the Basketball: The Gray Wolves have taken care of the basketball in each of their last two WHAC victories, committing just eight turnovers in each contest.  For the season Lourdes is committing 15.4 turnovers per contest while posting a +1.8 turnover margin on the year.

Crashing the Boards: Lourdes is 12th in the country with a +7.8 rebounding margin this season.  The Gray Wolves have outrebounded all but two of its opponents this year.  Lourdes finished the game with #24 Madonna even on the glass and was outrebounded in a two-point victory over Aquinas.

Converting at the Charity Stripe: Alex Davis ranks 26th in the country individually shooting 81.5% from the free throw line this season.  He is 44-of-54 from the charity stripe, ranking third in the WHAC.  Corey Harvey is actually the team leader this season shooting 82.5% (33-of-40), but does not have enough attempts to qualify for the national leaders.

Lourdes Tabbed Fifth in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in fifth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Aquinas, and just behind Madonna.  Davenport was tabbed as the conference's preseason favorite for 2012-2013.

Harvey Named to All-WHAC Preseason Team: Senior forward Corey Harvey has been named to the All-Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Preseason Team in a vote of the league's head coaches.  A member of the WHAC All-Newcomer Team one season ago, Harvey averaged 12.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.  He shot 41.7% from the floor while averaging more than 28 minutes per contest. 

Captains Named: Lourdes has two captains on the roster this season.  Serving in the leadership role for 2012-2013 are Corey Harvey and Remy Fleurima.

This and That: Lourdes enters the week with a four-game winning streak, its second longest of the season behind a five-game streak from Nov. 3-20 ... Enique Mason is third in the WHAC averaging 2.2 offensive rebounds per game ... after playing just twice at Tam-o-Shanter all season, the Gray Wolves will play three of their next four games at home ... Lourdes is now over .500 all-time in men's hoops with a 40-39 record after four straight wins.
