Elissa McCracken is a 20 year old pharmacy student at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, where she is pursuing a doctorate in pharmacy. She has just completed her third year of the rigorous six year program.
Elissa is the daughter of Jeff and Helen McCracken. Both Jeff and his father, Jack, are alumni of the pharmacy school at ONU. Elissa's uncle, Jay, is a graduate of ONU law school.
At ONU, Elissa is a member of the President's Club and the Zeta Kappa Chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority, where she serves as Vice President of Membership. Elissa is also a member of Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity where she served as Chair of Graduate Relations for two years. Elissa's father, Jeff, also belongs to the Kappa Psi brotherhood.
Elissa began competing in the Miss America Organization in Ohio as a result of the enticing scholarship money and, two years later, has amassed $20,000 to that end.
Elissa's personal platform, "Stop Cyber-Bullying" is a result of her own painful experiences with such mistreatment, most of which affected her in her middle school years. She has been invited to speak to student groups about her experiences where she explains her battle against the bullies, the steps all students can use to become bully free and the path she took to become a survivor of cyber-bullying.
Elissa has created Public Service Announcements for the Partnership for Violence Free Families regarding the damaging effects of bullying and has partnered with the Attorney General's Office in presentations regarding Cyberbullying 101.
