Grandmother seeks answers in grandson's murder

Posted: Updated:

January 9, 2010, a 21-year-old shot and killed inside his Lake of the Woods apartment in Springfield Township. Three years later, family members say they're still searching for answers.

"We still got the one detective working on it. We've had leads but nothing major."

Helen Cranston struggles with the death of her grandson every day. He was killed three years ago. The case is cold.

"He's got a lot of family and friends who want closure on this and we want to bring this person to justice. He's walked this earth for three years and we've been suffering for 3 years because of this," said Cranston.

Someone shot and killed Joseph Linares when he answered the door to his apartment. It happened at his apartment at Lake of the Woods on the corner of Bancroft and McCord.

"We know the circumstances of the case they believe it's drug related. We've heard some many things we've heard its drug related we heard it's a love related hate crime. You know there's just so many unanswered questions and whoever did this needs to come to grips with himself," said his grandmother.

Investigators say witnesses heard gunshots and saw someone running from the scene. Lucas County Sheriff detectives released this sketch of a possible suspect. This grandmother hopes someone will help investigators solve her grandson's case.

"I don't care what he's done. he still a human being and no person should take you know the law into their own hands no matter how they feel "

If you know anything about this crime call the Lucas County Sheriff's Office.
