COLUMBUS - Less than 24 hours after capturing the first road win of the season at Michigan State, the Toledo women's swimming and diving team dropped a dual meet at No. 15 Ohio State by a score of 189-104. The Buckeyes also dealt with a quick turnaround with a home victory over Wright State on Friday, but were able to extend their win streak against the Rockets to six.
Carly Harter won the 200-yard freestyle for the fourth time in five races this season, swimming a final time of 1:50.95. The senior posted the only two first-place finishes for UT and was responsible for 22 points. She swam the 400-yard individual medley with a second-place mark of 4:23.78, but earned the first-place points as OSU's Angela Severn was an exhibition swimmer for that event.
Harter also raced in the 50-yard freestyle for the first time this season, finishing second with a time of 24.33.
Junior Beth Rogers tallied the second-most UT points with 11. She ended with a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (51.97) and 200-yard butterfly (2:03.04). Her third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly is the first time she failed to win the event this season.
Senior Mckenzie Bagan finished ahead of Rogers in the 100-yard butterfly with a second-place time of 56.55. Bagan posted a second-place finish in the same event the previous night as well.
UT (2-2) will return home for its next meet on Saturday, Jan. 26. The Rockets will host MAC-rival Miami (OH) for senior day at 1:00 p.m.
