TOLEDO – Senior linebacker Dan Molls (North Royalton, OH) was presented with the Jim Nicholson Award at the 2012 University of Toledo Football Banquet held at the Grand Plaza Hotel in downtown Toledo on Sunday, Jan. 13. The Nicholson Award is given annually to the player most contributing to the team's success, and is considered the team's most prestigious award. It is voted on by the players.
Molls led the nation with 166 tackles. He was named first-team All-MAC and first-team Academic All-America. He is an exercise science major with a 3.61 grade point average.
Junior running back David Fluellen (Lockport, NY) was named the team's offense MVP. Fluellen rushed for 1,498 yards, the most by a Rocket since Jalen Parmele's 1,511 yards in 2007. Senior strong safety Jermaine Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA) earned defensive MVP honors. He had four interceptions on the season, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Junior Bernard Reedy (St. Petersburg, FL) was the special teams MVP. He scored four touchdowns on returns, three on kickoffs and one on a punt.
