Fremont woman found guilty in animal cruelty case

Posted: Updated:

The owner of dozens of animals seized from a Fremont home has been found guilty of animal cruelty.

Investigators went to Susan Baker's home in July of 2011 and found animals, including more than 30 dogs, living in deplorable conditions.

We're told, when the animals were taken, the smell was so bad rescuers had to wear masks. All of the animals needed vet care.

According to the Humane Society of Sandusky County, as part of a plea deal Baker pled no contest to two counts of animal cruelty.

She was found guilty this week and ordered to pay about $10,000 in restitution. She was also put on probation.

The animals are now ready to be adopted, and we're told most of them will go to the people who have been fostering them.
