Memorial to Sandy Hook victims vandalized

Posted: Updated:

Three years ago, Larry Ocheske created a memorial for the missing Skelton brothers. More recently, he included the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.  Now he says someone has torn that memorial apart.

Orcheske says he created the display with his wife and that sometime in the last few days, someone ripped it apart, destroying a wreath with the names of the Sandy Hook victims.

"When I saw that, I said to Susan 'Who could do something like that, don't you have a heart?"

Every year, Ocheske decorates a corner in the Old Amtrak Village. For the last three years, he's held candlelight vigils for Tanner, Alexander and Andrew Skelton. He says he doesn't understand how someone could destroy a memorial for crime victims.

Despite the damage, he plans to replace the wreath with an even bigger one. He says he's not mad, just confused as to why someone would do such a thing.
