Guard fatally shoots Flint bank robber

Posted: Updated:

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Flint police say a security guard fatally shot a suspected bank robber.

According to police, the unnamed man was shot and killed after he walked into the Chase Bank branch around 10:30 a.m. Friday and tried to rob it.

The bank had been robbed at least four times since 2010, and The Flint Journal reports police believe the man killed at the bank may have robbed it twice before.

Flint police Capt. T.P. Johnson says the man entered the bank and showed a long gun.

Johnson says "security guards raised their weapons, ordered him to halt and he raised his weapon up and was fired upon by the security guards."

Police will investigate the shooting and turn the case over to the Genesee County prosecutor's office for review.
