BEREA - The Cleveland Browns announced that Fred Nance will continue with the team in a new role as Senior Advisor and Special Counsel. Since joining the club in December 2009, Nance had served as the Browns General Counsel while simultaneously remaining a partner at the Squire Sanders (US) LLP law firm, where he has practiced for 35 years.
Going forward, Nance will work with Browns CEO Joe Banner, President Alec Scheiner and the new General Counsel Sashi Brown on a variety of strategic and development matters.
"We are fortunate to have someone with Fred's knowledge and expertise continue to serve our organization," said Browns CEO Joe Banner. "Fred's track record as a top sports attorney is reflected in his having been a finalist for the position of NFL Commissioner in 2006. As a Cleveland native, Fred's keen awareness of the local landscape has been invaluable for the franchise over the last several years, and we are thrilled that his passion for Cleveland and the Browns will continue to benefit our club."
