Springfield Township chase ends in gunfire

Posted: Updated:

A Toledo man is behind bars after an early morning police chase.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says troopers tried stopping Byron Hageman, 43, for reckless driving near Holland Sylvania and South Avenue around 12:45 a.m. when he took off.

Troopers say Hageman drove to a home on Lincoln Green and rammed into a patrol car with his truck. Troopers fired at Hageman but he drove off again.

The chase ended in a parking lot on Hill Avenue. Investigators say Hageman was taken into custody with minor injuries.

Right now Hageman is being held in the Lucas County Jail on multiple charges.

OHP says none of the troopers were hurt during the chase but the patrol car that was hit is out of commission.
