2nd report of man approaching kids in van

Posted: Updated:

Police have received a second report a man driving a white van approaching a student. Sylvania Township police say the student was able to get away.

Sylvania schools sent another email to parents alerting them about this most recent incident.

The victim's mother says her daughter was dropped off at the wrong bus stop.

Her daughter had to walk about a block and that's when the white van pulled up next to her

These are the hands of a concerned Sylvania mother who was shocked to hear yet another student was approached by a stranger in a white van.

"My kids don't walk home but I'm going to make sure when they get on and off the bus I am right there," said a concerned mother.

According to a police report filed Wednesday, a 12-year-old girl was dropped off at Roberts and Alexis.

The victim's mother says her daughter had a back pack that has sequins on it.

The student says a white male driving a white van pulled up next to her and said "hey sparkles, how are you doing?"

The girl ran home.

Police are taking extra trips around neighborhoods and schools. Sylvania Township's chief of police encourages parents to review stranger danger safety rules with your children.

"If anybody that they don't know ever approaches them like that, they are to get away as quickly as possible and make a whole lot of noise, to call attention to the situation or report it to their parents and an adult they trust," said Sylvania Township Police Chief Robert Boehme.

Safety tips this mother says she'll tell her kids, again.

"I'll make sure my kids are safe. I would advise kids not to walk home right now. Thats just my opinion," said a concerned parent.

Police are looking for a white male in his 40's. He has gray hair and he's balding. Police say he's driving a white panel van with a ladder rack on top.
