The federal government has ordered the City of Toledo to stop a street project. Workers began cutting down trees along part of Collingwood Boulevard last month in preparation for a street and sidewalk rebuilding project.

The Federal Highway Administration has ordered the city to stop work until the plan can be reviewed. That process should take two to three weeks.

Seventy-two trees were marked for removal, and more than 15 were already cut down. The city plans to plant new trees when the construction is through.
