Reports of a gun at a Raymer Elementary in Toledo put parents on edge Friday, but fortunately those reports turned out to be false.
School official Jim Gault says there was never any real danger. "Unfortunately, there was some misinformation that was put out that created some panic for parents."
According to police, two students showed a friend a BB gun earlier Friday morning at a nearby playground.
A passerby saw what was believed to be a real gun and immediately called police. Police recovered the BB gun and discovered it was broken. The BB gun was never inside the building and never on school grounds.
But parents like Eric Ruiz were still worried. "Panic, the first thing you want to do when you hear is get your kids. I don't know how people can let their kids get out of the house with something like that."
Luke Gardner headed straight to the school. "My son's in there. No one lets their kid get hurt. There's too many of these things going on, I really don't have any thought. I just sprinted down here."
School officials say even though there was no danger at the school, extra precautions were taken. Parents say they're just glad school officials and law enforcement had safety in mind.
Two students are facing disciplinary charges with TPS and could be in trouble with the police as well.
