KALAMAZOO - Toledo collected a point tonight in a 3-2 overtime loss at Kalamazoo. Toledo has an overall record of 28-18-1-4 and is 15-11-1-1 on the road this season.
The Wings would get a pair of goals in the first period to lead Toledo 2-0 after the first. Wesley Myron would get the first at 4:50 of the period on a wrist shot past goaltender Jimmy Spratt. The Wings would make it 2-0 when Kory Karlander beat Spratt on the backhand. Toledo owned the play for much of the period, holding a 10-3 shot advantage.
"We did a great job tonight getting pressure in their zone," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "Tonight you just have to tip your cap to Kalamazoo goaltender Joel Martin. That is the beauty of hockey. One guy can make the difference and he did tonight."
Toledo would get the offense going in the second period. Travis Novak scored Toledo's 10th shorthanded goal of the season at 2:48. The Walleye would tie the game when John May scored his second goal of the season on a wrist shot that went through the legs of Kalamazoo goaltender Joel Martin at 8:22. May scored his first goal of the year while skating with Kalamazoo.
The two teams were unable to get a goal in the third period. Aaron Clarke would tip a pass by Spratt in overtime to give Kalamazoo the win. Toledo out shot Kalamazoo 42-17 for the game.
