Toledo Women's Golf Opens Spring Season with Fifth-Place Showing in Louisiana

BROUSSARD, LA – Toledo's women's golf team concluded its first tournament of the 2013 spring season on Tuesday with a fifth-place showing at McNeese State's Le Triomphe Invitational.

Freshman Sathika Ruenreong led the Rockets in the event at 17-over par 233 (78-76-79-233), good for an eighth-place finish and her third-straight Top 10 showing. Junior Kate Hoops carded the Rockets' best round of the day with a six-over par 78 to finish tied for 43rd place at 248 (84-86-78).

Sophomore Jennifer Elsholz (83-78-81=242) tied for 41st place, sophomore Becky Martin (86-81-81=248) tied for 43rd place along with Hoops and senior Allison Schultz (81-90-83=254) tied for 56th place. Freshman Manisa Isavas posted the Rockets' second-best finish by tying for 24th place at 240 (81-80-79) but was competing as an individual.

Lamar captured the tournament title at 66-over par 930 (311-312-307), 13 strokes ahead of second-place Xavier's 54-hole score of 943 (321-313-309). The Cardinals placed three golfers in the top four with Ghni Ngo earning medalist honors with a 10-over par 226 (74-80-72).

Toledo will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, March 2-3 when it competes in the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, AZ.
