    One man is dead after an overnight barn fire in northern Monroe County.The sheriff's office says that barn went up in flames just before 1 a.m. Monday.It happened outside of Carelton, MI, near the intersection of Colf and Sumpter.Investigators say a 54-year-old lived in an apartment above the barn.     For the first time this year, an algal bloom advisory is in effect for South Bass Island. Testing at the State Park Beach shows high levels of toxins in the water. It was 13 parts per billion of microcystin. That's prompting Ohio's Environmental Protection Agency to post a public health advisory.The "orange flag" cautions older people, those very young or anyone with a compromised immune system to stay out of the water near South Bass Beach. 20 parts per billion of microcystin would have laun...

CITY COUNCIL SALARIES

A city commission is working to evaluate salaries for its members and the mayor. The Salary Review and Recommendation Commission met today to begin discussions on whether to raise, decrease or freeze pay. The commission meets every four years. Members have 39 days to make a decision.

METH LAB BUST

An Ohio mother is behind bars after police say she ditched her children during a meth lab raid. Investigators in Akron searched a suspected drug operation inside a home. According to authorities, the woman jumped from a window leaving her two children inside. She's charged with two counts of child endangering.

PRESIDENT OBAMA AT OSU GRADUATION

(AP) - President Barack Obama will take to the stage at Ohio Stadium in May to speak to graduates at Ohio State University's commencement. University President E. Gordon Gee says Ohio State is honored to have Obama speak at the largest commencement in its history. About 12,000 students are expected to graduate.

ASIAN CARP

(AP) - A new government study says live Asian carp don't have to be present for their DNA to turn up in the environment. The report released today by three federal agencies identifies six other ways that genetic material from bighead and silver carp might have reached waterways in the Chicago area and western Lake Erie.

MIDWEST WINTER STORM

(AP) - As a winter storm rapidly approaches, crews are rushing to conclude the search for more possible victims of last night's natural gas explosion at a popular Kansas City restaurant. One body has been recovered, and the mayor worries the debris could be concealing other victims. Fifteen people were injured. Six remain hospitalized.

MR. GAINES DIES

(AP) - Actor Lou Myers, best known for his role as Mr. Gaines on the television series "A Different World," has died. Tonia McDonald of Myers' nonprofit, Global Business Incubation Inc., says Myers died Tuesday night at Charleston Area Medical Center in West Virginia. She said he was 76. "A Different World" ran from 1987-93. An autopsy is planned.

BODY FOUND IN HOTEL WATER SUPPLY

(AP) - Health officials have issued a do-not-drink order at a downtown Los Angeles hotel where a missing Canadian woman's body was found in the rooftop water supply. Earlier, police had said the water was safe. A maintenance worker at the historic Cecil Hotel found the body Tuesday morning. Police are trying to determine if her death was the result of foul play or an accident.
