Chrysler reveals new Toledo-built Jeep Cherokee

Posted: Updated:

We are getting the first look at the new Toledo-built Jeep that is set to start production this spring.

These are the first official images released by Chrysler and reviews are already in.

Motortrend is saying: the bold, mid sized SUV "will not be confused anything else on the road. "

The Jeep Cherokee will replace the Liberty and will also be built here in Toledo at the Chrysler assembly complex.

These early pictures are a teaser ahead of the big reveal. The new Jeep Cherokee is set to make it's world debut at the New York Auto Show at the end of next month.

Chrysler's CEO tells 13abc the production launch date has been set for May 23rd and the SUV will be available at most dealers in July.

Motortrend is reporting this morning, there's more to the Jeep than just looks. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is expected to have a 45% improvement in fuel economy.

That's a major selling point and is expected to keep sales robust.

This signals a steady pace for workers at the plant who keep jeeps rolling off the lines.

13ABC will be following this developing story throughout the day.
