A significant winter storm possible Tuesday

Posted: Updated:
Toledo, OH -

Another storm system will develop in the southern plains this week and move northeast towards the Great Lakes. This system will pull in moisture from both the Gulf Of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. The strong winds just above the surface is expected to push in a layer of warmer air above the ground which often times leads to freezing rain and sleet. The storm's track and timing isn't set in stone and any adjustment will alter the forecast. At this time, the temperature is expected to hover around the freezing mark with freezing rain and snow late morning on Tuesday through Tuesday night. While this is a winter storm it has some spring-like characteristics as well. There will be a lot of cold air aloft and instability. This could lead to a few flashes of lightning and cracks of thunder developing.
