Five Rockets scored in double figures on Saturday afternoon as Toledo (13-11) cruised to a 79-66 triumph over McNeese State (11-14) in a non-conference matchup in Savage Arena. The Rockets have now won seven of their last eight contests and improved to 7-2 on its home floor this season.
Junior G Rian Pearson paced UT with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double in his last four games. Sophomore G Julius Brown also notched a double-double by tying his career best with 11 assists to go along with 10 points.
Also scoring in double digits for Toledo were junior F Matt Smith (13 pts., 6 reb.), junior F Reese Holliday (13 pts.) and senior G Dominique Buckley (10 pts.). Freshman C Nathan Boothe tallied nine points, six rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals.
Senior G Jeremie Mitchell led McNeese State with 18 points.
Toledo shot 49.1 percent, including a red-hot 62.5 percent in the second stanza, and limited the Cowboys to a 42.9 shooting mark.
UT will now turn its attention back to Mid-American Conference play when it hosts Western Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. The Rockets and Broncos are tied for first place in the MAC West Division with 8-4 league ledgers.
