Areas in the northern part of our viewing area in Lenawee County, Michigan, got freezing rain all throughout the afternoon and could see several inches of snow Tuesday night. At 3:30 p.m. the rain stopped
M-DOT trucks are salting the road along US-223 in Adrian as folks brace for snow.

The Lenawee County Sheriff's Department says a man driving in Deerfield Township slipped off the road and into the River Raisin. He was able to get out of his car and swim to shore safely.

Another car in Adrian slipped off the road and hit a tree. That person is OK.

Also, a semi-truck is stuck on 127 and can't get up the hill.

Lenawee County is getting pounded with snow after getting hit with freezing rain all afternoon.

Ice built up on branches, but not on the main roads.

"I think I'm staying home," says Doug Beaubien who lives on a dirt road, Sword Road, which is covered in ice.

"Nothing but solid ice," says Beaubien. "Once the rain hit the dirt road, it just turns to ice and this is where we're at."

Even four wheel drive doesn't help on a surface of solid ice.

"No, you've just got four wheels going whatever way they want to go," says Beaubien.

Now the heavy snowfall is surprising folks who are just getting out of work.

"This caught us by surprise," says Paula Martin of Adrian. "It's nasty."
