The cloudy season in northwest Ohio and in southeast Michigan is typically November, December and January mainly due to lake-effect clouds. The winter season started off with more sunshine than normal, but we are paying for it now. Late January and February were colder than normal and that led to a late season surge of low clouds. A 37 day streak starting in late January extending through March 2nd only produced 3 sunny days. More sunshine is expected with a calmer weather pattern this coming week. The number of sunny days peak during the summer months, June, July, and August. During the dog days of summer, 3 out of 4 days are normally sunny.

It has been a slow severe weather season up to this point, but this weekend will be the busiest of the season so far. There were more than 20 tornado reports on Saturday and over 200 severe reports totals.
