"Think of your family." Pleads woman who lost sister to text crash

Posted: Updated:

April Griesinger lost her sister to an accident caused by texting while driving.

Her sister Ashley Snyder was five months pregnant when she looked down at a text message while driving and hit a semi truck on Airport Highway.

"People don't understand how horrible it can be until it happens to you." April said."It's the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life. It's been three and a half years since we lost Ashley. It's still just as hard today as it was the day I got the phone call."

April is happy to hear about Ohio's new ban on texting and driving.

"People think, Oh it will never happen to me. I'm invincible. I'm a good driver. It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, one second to look down and read a text message could be one second too late."

April says she hopes everyone will think about Ashley's story before they text and prevent another tragedy.

"Think of your family, think of yourself, think of other people around you. A text message is not worth anybody's life. It's not worth anybody's heartache."
