
EVANSVILLE- Nino Musitelli would score twice for Toledo but the Walleye were defeated 6-3 in Evansville. Toledo has an overall record of 30-20-4-4 and is 15-12-2-1 on the road this season.
It would be Toledo getting the first goal as Nino Musitelli placed a perfect wrist shot over the glove hand of Paul Dainton at 4:44 of the first period. Travis Novak and Phil Rauch set up Musitelli on his 6th goal of the year. The IceMen out shot Toledo 12-8 in the first period and would get a goal to tie the game at one at 19:56 of the period.
"This can be a difficult place to play when they have goaltending going," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "We fought hard all the way to the end, but you have to credit Evansville for making the plays and Dainton for his goaltending."
The IceMen would score a pair of goals in the second period. Kevin Baker beat Pearce with a one-timer at 8:58 of the period. Andre-Bouvet Morrisette was credited with a power play goal at 13:03 for Evansville.
Evansville would go in front 4-1 at 10:11 of the third period. The Walleye would rebound when Nino Musitelli scored his second goal of the game at 13:01 on the power play. Just 48 seconds later, the Walleye would make it a one goal game when Byron Froese scored his 9th goal of the year. The IceMen would get a shorthanded goal and an empty net goal would ice the game.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jordan Pearce made 20 saves and is 14-8-2-1 on the season. Toledo is 4-4-0-0 against the Evansville IceMen this season. Toledo has a power play goal in three straight games.
