Police suspect a Temperance man was texting and driving before he ran into an ODOT truck parked on the side of the highway on Monday.

A Temperance man has died from his injuries overnight, after being thrown from his vehicle in a crash Monday afternoon.

Police suspect the man was texting and driving before running into an Ohio Department of Transportation vehicle parked on the side of the highway.

Police say two ODOT workers on litter duty pulled off onto the side off the highway on I-75 near the Bancroft Avenue exit to pull some tarp off the road.

Officers say Ken Harder of Temperance slammed into the ODOT truck with his SUV, hitting worker Mary Rich with his side mirror.

The force of the impact ejected Harder from his vehicle. Both Harder and Rich were taken to Mercy St Vincent's.

Rich suffered only minor injuries and was released.

Harder died overnight.

A witness says it appeared Harder was texting shortly before the accident.
