PRESS RELEASE:

Lucas County to Sound Outdoor Warning Sirens To Encourage Severe Weather Awareness

Lucas County, OH – Lucas County is proud to support Ohio's Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week and National Severe Weather Preparedness Week from March 3rd through March 9th. Both weather campaigns encourage all citizens to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards, especially severe weather.

As a part of a coordinated effort with the Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness, the State of Ohio will participate in a statewide tornado drill, testing its Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Wednesday, March 6th at 9:50 a.m. At the same time, Lucas County will sound their warning sirens for one (1) minute. Schools, businesses and households are encouraged to practice their tornado drills and emergency plans. As always, Lucas County Emergency Management recommends that all citizens purchase a NOAA Weather Radio and check to see if their cell phones are equipped to receive Wireless Emergency Alerts.
