Many parents rushed to Eastwood High School in Pemberville on Friday after receiving a lockdown alert from the school. Kids locked in classrooms used their cell phones to text their parents updates.

Deputies rushed out to Eastwood High School in Pemberville just before classes were set to start Friday morning after live ammunition was found inside a boys' restroom.

Law enforcement and school officials say a weapon was never found. School officials searched throughout the building, including all lockers and backpacks.

"We're not sure of the origin of the incident, if it was a prank or if someone really had intentions," says Superintendent Brent Welker. "But we've not found anything."

Though a weapon was never found, school officials put the high school on a modified lockdown schedule. Students were told to remain in class, and extra sheriff's deputies were brought in to make sure students were safe.

The Wood County sheriff says there was no imminent danger to students.

"It could be that someone had them and brought them and thought ‘I don't want to carry these with me' and left them in the restroom," says Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn. "That's certainly a possibility. We have a lot of students that like to hunt."

Officials say they'll be reviewing the school's security cameras in their investigation.
