County says being a foster or adoptive parent is easier than you think

Lucas County Children's Services say they need more foster and adoptive parents and they're offering a class for those interested in making a difference in the life of a child.
The class will offer information as well as training on foster and adoptive parenting. It will be held on Saturday May, 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the LCCS offices at 705 Adams Street.
The agency says qualifying to be a foster or adoptive parent is easier than you think.
You must be at least 18 to be a foster parent and at least 21 to adopt. Parents may be married or single and it doesn't matter if you own or rent a home, but it must have at least two bedrooms.
Working outside the home is fine and you must have a source of income.
You will need a home safety inspection and must agree to a background check. You'll receive free training to help with process and financial support is available based on the children's needs.

Toledo firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in Toledo. The fire broke out at a home on the 1100 block of Avondale just after 11:30pm Tuesday. Dispatchers tell us heavy flames are showing.
