Ohio rape trial focuses on intoxication

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Prosecutors and defense attorneys in the trial of 2 high school football players accused of raping a 16-year-old girl are focusing on the alleged victim's level of intoxication and whether she consented to sex.

Witnesses on Wednesday at times gave conflicting accounts of the girl's condition at a party last August, with some saying she could barely walk and others testifying that she was sober enough to brush off friends who wanted her to leave.

The juvenile court trial continues Thursday before Judge Thomas Lipps, who is hearing it without a jury.

The prosecution this week is expected to call three teenage boys who saw the alleged attack. Defense attorneys could call the West Virginia girl who is the alleged victim.
