Posted: Updated:

Toledo struck twice, but it was not enough as the Walleye dropped the weekend series finale to the Wheeling Nailers by a score of 3-2 at the Huntington Center on Sunday. Toledo is now 33-24-5-4 on the season and 17-10-3-3 at home.

Much like last night's game, Toledo would net the first goal of the night 5:25 into the first period. Randy Rowe would get his 12th of the year after batting a loose puck into the Wheeling goal. Trevor Parkes and Wes O'Neill assisted on the goal that got past Wheeling goaltender Scott Darling.

Kyle Rogers put the Walleye up 2-0 after he took a pass from Travis Novak and buried a puck behind Darling on the power play. Tyler Brenner picked up the second assist on the second Walleye goal that came at the 12:41 mark of the opening period.

Walleye goaltender Kent Simpson stopped all nine shots that he faced during the first period, while Toledo peppered Darling with 21 shots on goal.

Wheeling's Chris Barton scored the lone goal in the second period, cutting Toledo's lead to 2-1 at the 9:01 mark.

Toledo held Wheeling to six shots during the second period and Toledo sent 11 at the Wheeling goal.

The Nailers scored on their first two shots of the third period. The first goal was from Zack Torquato at the 8:33 mark. The second Wheeling goal came at 9:06 from Matt Germain. Germain's goal would prove to be the game winner and push Wheeling to a 3-2 win over Toledo.
