Student commits suicide at Mich. middle school

A Michigan school is closed until next week after a student shot himself in the building.

Police say the eighth grader brought a gun to Southgate Middle School Thursday morning. The district is about 25 miles north of Monroe.

School leaders say teachers responded immediately and locked the building down.

The school is reviewing its security measures.

When classes resume on Monday, the school will have grief counselors on hand for students.
