Toledo police confiscate van matching stranger danger incident

Posted: Updated:

Police have confiscated a van that may have been involved in a child enticement incident Tuesday. Officers pulled the vehicle over Thursday morning hear Lagrange and Pearl.

Police say the license plate matched the description given by the 17-year-old Horizon Science Academy student.

Police took the driver in for questioning, but he was later released. Investigators say the prosecutor asked to continue investigating before charges are filed.

The van and license plate matched the description of Toledo's latest stranger alert. TPD tells us a 17-year -old girl was approached by a man in a white van on Tuesday. She was able to get the license plate, which led police to the van they confiscated.

Police say they will continue the investigation and try to determine if the man behind the wheel was the man who approached the student on Tuesday.

Investigators say, at this time, they don't believe the recent stranger danger reports are related. Still, they're encouraging parents to talk to their kids, while officers continue to work to track down the people responsible.

"We are working diligently with our other law enforcement partners, as well as the school systems, to make sure the kids are safe going back and forth to school," says Sergeant Joe Heffernan.

If you have any information about any of the incidents, you're asked to call Crime Stopper at 419-255-1111.
