Ohio firefighter struck by car, thrown 30 feet, survives

Posted: Updated:

An Ohio firefighter is speaking out about a near-death experience.

Captain Barry Cron was on the scene of an accident in Dayton. That's when another driver lost control on the icy road and crashed into him.

The accident threw Cron some 30 feet.

"I remember hearing like a half a second of tires on the ice then felt the impact and tumbling and coming to rest in the snow," says Cron. "I couldn't move due to pain, shock, but I was conscious the whole time."

Cron suffered three broken ribs and a fractured leg.

He says he hopes to get back to work in a few weeks.
