Thousands of eggs, hundreds of kids, one helicopter

Kids lined up anxiously waiting. "The eggs are dropping from the sky," said Devin Wacenske, a first-timer to the Easter Egg Drop at The Church on Strayer. 

They're waiting for the helicopter to arrive and drop all of the eggs. 

The helicopter flew in from Detroit. It dropped nearly 40,000 Easter Eggs on the lawn outside of The Church on Strayer. 

"We have a company in Fremont what fills them for us," said Jake Michalski, children's pastor at the church.

When the kids were given the green card, they wasted no time getting to the eggs.

Parents were supposed to stay behind a sign on the field, but that didn't last long. The parents were close behind holding eggs that were overflowing from the baskets. 

Not even the rain could hold these kids back from collecting all of the eggs dropped by the helicopter.

One pre-teen gasped in awe at his basket, "Oh my gosh!" 

It took the nearly 300 kids less than 15 minutes to clear the field of all of Easter Eggs. 

This was Julia Betz's first time to the Egg Drop, "Seeing the helicopter was pretty cool."

Some of the eggs were filled with an extra sweet prize. 

"There's a voucher in some of the eggs that tells them, 'You won!' It could be anywhere from $1 to $20," said Michalski. 

The kids dove right into cracking open the eggs to find their prizes.

One kid who cashed in a voucher. His was worth $1. 

The church said there was a total of $250 in 1s, 5s and a few 20 dollar bills.
