Saturday evening flood update

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Most of northwest Ohio's rivers have crested, but in many locations, the water is still overflowing the riverbanks, and it will be another day or two before waters recede.

Flood Warnings continue in Lucas, Wood, Hancock, Ottawa, Sandusky, Allen, Putnam, Henry, Fulton, Williams, Defiance, Paulding and Marion Counties.

The most significant problems have been along the Blanchard River in Ottawa and Findlay.

In Findlay, the river is still near flood stage, but the river is falling.

In Ottawa, the Blanchard River is about 4' above flood stage, but it has crested there as well.

The Maumee River is about 1' above flood stage in both Defiance and Waterville, and it is cresting and will soon begin to fall in both locations.

One of the rivers that continues to rise is the Tiffin River near Stryker.  There, the river is near flood stage, and it could rise up to another foot before cresting late on Sunday or early on Monday.

The Auglaize River is about 2' above flood stage near Fort Jennings, but it is falling.

To the south, the Scioto River is falling near LaRue, but remains near flood stage.

In the eastern part of the metro area, the Portage River is about 2' above flood stage in Woodville, but it is falling.

Any isolated showers on Sunday will not significantly impact the river flooding.

In the big picture, however, this next week will be similar to last week, with widespread, heavy rain and thunderstorms returning by midweek.  This could bring another round of river flooding in 5-7 days.
