Sean McGuire (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) shot two rounds of 80 on Monday helping to lead Lourdes on day one of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship held at Stonewater Country Club in Caledonia, Mich.
The Gray Wolves are in eighth place through the first 36 holes after firing rounds of 336 and 327 for a total of 663. Davenport leads the way heading into the final round at 581 (287-294), four strokes ahead of Madonna (298-287).
McGuire paced the Gray Wolves and is tied for 32nd place individually at 160 on the 6,757-yard, par-71 course. Kevin Ritzenthaler (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.), who matched McGuire's 80 in round two for the team's best score of the day, finished in 37th place at 164 (84-80).
Jacob VanDyke (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) and Brandon Henry (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) matched each other for the day with a total of 170. VanDyke carded back-to-back rounds of 85 while Henry shaved four strokes off of his first round score, firing rounds of 87 and 83.
Nick Flasco (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge H.S.) posted rounds of 87 and 84 to finish at 171 while Cody Berg (Garrettsville, Ohio/James A. Garfield H.S.) shot 89 and 88 to finish at 177.
Madonna's Benjamin Gawronski leads the individual standings, shooting even par 142 (74-68), one stroke ahead of Davenport's Zach Feher (69-74).
Lourdes will return to the links on Tuesday morning for the final 18 holes of the WHAC Championship. The final round shotgun start is set for 9 a.m.
