The bodies of two missing kayakers were recovered from Lake Erie Friday.

The U.S. Coast Guard recovered the body of a teenage girl from the lake around 11:00 a.m. Friday.  A boater about 8 miles north of the Vermillion River alerted authorities after making the discovery.

Crews have tentatively identified the body as that of Viola Francis, 12, based on clothing and jewelry on the girl.

Earlier this month, Viola and her father, Jonathon Francis, 30, disappeared while kayaking in Sandusky Bay.  Crews found their kayaks, but never recovered their bodies.  Neither was wearing a life jacket.

The discovery of Viola's body prompted officials to relaunch recovery efforts for Jonathon.

His body was spotted by two fisherman near the Cedar Point break wall that separates the Cedar Point marina from Sandusky Bay.

Authorities identified him by a special pendant found on the body, along with a tattoo.

Both bodies have been transported to the coroner for formal identification and autopsy.

A ton of salt cost about $33 bucks this time in 2013. Today, it's $134 dollars for the same amount. Northwood leaders, like those in Lake Township, have decided not to buy in the ...
