Lourdes University's men's golf team wrapped up the 2012-2013 season on Saturday afternoon, setting a new school record shooting 311 at the Bill Gettig Invitational hosted by Trine University at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
The Gray Wolves bettered their previous school mark of 313 set on Aug. 24, 2010 at the Red Wolves/Gray Wolves Challenge. Lourdes finished in eighth place for the tournament, just five strokes out of third. Owens Community College won the team title by 11 shots over Alma, firing a team total of 290.
Nick Flasco (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge H.S.) led Lourdes with a five-over par round of 75 on the 6,384-yard, par-70 layout to tie for 13th individually. His round matched Jacob VanDyke's (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) round earlier this season for the team's best of the year. VanDyke turned in the team's second best round of the day on Saturday, firing a 76 himself to tie for 17th place.
Sean McGuire (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) carded a 78 giving the Gray Wolves three scores in the 70s for the event. Brandon Henry (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) rounded out the scoring for Lourdes with an 82 while Kevin Ritzenthaler (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) posted an 86 for the Gray Wolves.
Owens' Luke Berger and Calumet's Tyler Nicol shared the individual title after both players shot even par rounds of 70.
