Sandusky district opening school for gifted students

Posted: Updated:

Sandusky City Schools is collaborating with Bowling Green State University to open a regional center for gifted students. The goal is to help students reach their academic potential.

The district's Regional Center for Advanced Academic Studies will serve grades 4 through 6. Students must qualify as ‘gifted' according to Ohio's state standards

Superintendent Dr. Eugene Sanders says students will receive integrated instruction in math, science and technology, English and humanities.

BGSU is partnering with the district to make sure students are challenged.

More than 80 students have been identified within the Sandusky school district as gifted. The school will have the capacity to serve close to 300 students.

The Regional Center for Advanced Academic Studies will be tuition-free. It opens August 26.  For more information, call 419-984-1022.
