Ohio Supreme Court to hear Ottawa Hills police officer case

Posted: Updated:

The Ohio Supreme Court will hear the appeal in the case of former Ottawa Hills police officer Thomas White.

In January, the Sixth District Court of Appeals overturned his felonious assault conviction.

In 2009, White shot motorcycle rider Mike McCloskey during a traffic stop, paralyzing him from the waist down.

The appeals court reversed White's conviction in January and called for a retrial. The 108-page decision says the jury in the case wasn't given proper instructions on deadly force standards.

The Ohio Supreme Court has accepted the case and will hear the appeal to the overturned conviction.

An old, abandoned, overgrown factory field near Milroy Street is changing for the better day by day.
