Arborwood pool set to reopen in Monroe

Posted: Updated:

School may be out for the summer for many students in the area, but in Monroe they can head back to school to beat the heat!

The Dick Waters Swimming Pool opens for the season Monday. It's located at Arborwood South Elementary, off of Riverview Avenue.

For the second straight year, the pool will reopen thanks to the City of Monroe, Monroe Public Schools and the Monroe Family YMCA.

Last year, the groups worked to bring the pool into operation for the first time since 2009, when budget cuts forced it to close.

This year, the pool is set to be open every day through Labor Day weekend. The only exception is July 4.

Pool hours are 11 to 6 Monday through Friday and noon to 5 Saturdays and Sundays.

Kids ages 12 and younger can get in for $2. Admission for those ages 13 and older is $3. You can also buy season passes.
