Toledo Senior Named to Softball All-MAC Team

Senior OF Lindsay Tobias has earned a spot on the 2013 Softball Academic All-MAC Team, the league office has announced. A total of 22 student-athletes were named to the squad that was voted on by faculty athletic representatives at Mid-American Conference institutions.

A Defiance, OH native with a 3.934 grade-point average in exercise science, Tobias earned Academic All-MAC honors for a second-straight year after pacing the MAC with five triples and ranking second with a team-high 19 stolen bases. She also topped the Rockets in on-base percentage (.408) while tying for first in hits (51) and ranking second in batting average (.329), runs scored (28), home runs (4) and RBI (29). She concluded her career ranked second on UT's all-time career home run and RBI lists.

Also recognized by the conference as honorable mention Academic All-MAC selections were junior Lani Ernst and sophomores Alli Beery, Leigh Nebendahl and Alyssa Smith.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award
