Team works to scrub Toledo graffiti

Posted: Updated:

There are a number of people making their marks on Toledo, but Mayor Bell says that's not a good thing. The mayor's not happy with all the graffiti in the city and has a team ready to get rid of it.

"One of the issues a lot of cities have to deal with is graffiti, and the problem we have with graffiti is that the places it's put are inappropriate," he said Tuesday.

Andrew Kirk is part of Toledo's newest team. Its mission is to make the city look a little nicer by getting rid of graffiti, and it's being done with the help of a new tool on wheels: an old city van, retrofitted with everything needed to lift the paint.

"What we try to do is look at the surface that we're dealing with and use chemicals and a power washer for the paint and conditions we're trying to clean," says Kirk.

Part of the graffiti removal initiative is being paid for by the community development block grant.
