Boy collects 500 pairs of jeans for recycling in one day

Posted: Updated:

They call him Eco-Erek because he love to recycle and today the local boy collected 500 pairs of jeans and 200 pairs of shoes.

Twelve-year-old Erek Hansen has collected 15,000 pairs of jeans over the past five years. He donates the denim to the Cotton From Blue organization. They recycle the jeans into housing insulation.

If you'd like to help Erek's cause, there's a drop box at the Future Wave Salon in Oregon.
