2-car accident on I-475 Central Ave. overpass injures 2

Posted: Updated:

Two drivers were sent to the hospital after a rollover crash Thursday afternoon. It happened at the I-475 overpass on West Central Avenue in Sylvania Township.

The deputy chief of the Sylvania Fire Department says one car ran the red light at the I-475 on-ramp, crashing in to the SUV and causing it to flip over.

The driver of the SUV was trapped. Firefighters had to rescue the driver using special extraction equipment.

Both drivers were taken to a Toledo area hospital with what the deputy chief says are non-life threatening injuries.

The deputy chief says this highway entrance is "notorious" for drivers running red lights.
