Coast Guard hunts Lake Michigan for man overboard

Posted: Updated:

FERRYSBURG, Mich. (AP) - Authorities are searching Lake Michigan off Ferrysburg for a man reported overboard from a boat.

WOOD-TV says the Ottawa County emergency dispatch center got a call about 4:10 p.m. Sunday from a vessel reporting the man in the water. MLive.com says the man is a 47-year-old from the Grand Rapids suburb of Walker and didn't have a flotation device.

The station says the Coast Guard is using a helicopter and a small vessel to search the area, about 3 miles from shore.

The Ottawa County sheriff's department and Grand Haven police also are assisting in the search.

Ferrysburg is about 10 miles south of Muskegon.
