Safe-T-City accepting applications

The Toledo Police Department is currently accepting applications from parents who want to enroll their kids in this summer's Safe-T-City classes.

Safe-T-City is a life safety course in which police officers, guest speakers and certified classroom teachers discuss important safety issues.

Topics include pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, electric safety, fire safety, and water safety.

Morning and afternoon sessions are available throughout July.

    A 22-year-old was killed after his vehicle slid off the road and landed in a ditch.The deadly crash happened just after midnight on Thursday morning near the intersection of State Route 613 and Township Road 232.The Hancock County Sheriff says Justin Potteiger of Van Buren was not wearing his seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The crash is under investigation.

    Friends and family are gathering to remember four people who went on a fishing trip and never returned. Amy Santus, 33, and her niece, Paige Widmer, 16, were found dead last week. Bryan Huff and Andrew Rose are still missing. Friends and family will hold a vigil at Turtle Point Marina this Friday in their honor.
