Fremont parents with "filthy" home face child endangering charges

Posted: Updated:

We have new details in the story of filthy home in Fremont.

The parents of the children forced to live in the now condemned home are facing charges.

The Fremont News-Messenger reports the pair are each facing 4 counts of child endangering for allegedly allowing their children to live in Fremont home that Sheriff's deputies report as "deplorable."

Deputies received a 9-1-1 call a few weeks ago that tipped them off to the home. When they went inside they found unlivable conditions, trash inside the home, feces on the floor and rooms that were nearly impassable.

The children range in age from 8-15 years old. The case was handed over the Sandusky County Children's Services and now both parents are charged.

The Health Department condemned the home and gave the homeowner about a month to fix the conditions and bring more than 12 violations up to code.

If convicted, the parents could each face $4,000 in fines and two years in prison.
